UTEP Men’s Golf to Compete at UNM Tournament


EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP men's golf team will head up the road to Albuquerque, N.M., to play at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship South Golf Course (par 72/7,555 yards). The Miners, after playing a total of four rounds in their first two tournaments due to rain, are looking to play three rounds during the Sept. 28-29 event.
 
The 17-team field will begin on Friday with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start, while Saturday's third-round action will start with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
 
Making the trip with UTEP head coach Scott Lieberwirth is Oskar Ambrosius, Ben Getman, Marcus Khaw, Aaron Terrazas and Nattapol Udomrat.
 
Terrazas is coming off a successful tournament (Sept. 16-17) at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. It was the first tournament of his senior campaign, as Terrazas shot a 71 in round no. 1 and a 69 in the second and final round to finish at 4-under par and placed tied for fifth. Terrazas fired a 3-under par after eagling his final hole on Sept. 17. He also tallied four birdies on the second day.
 
Ambrosius and Khaw are competing in their third tournaments of the season. Khaw has a 78.3 stroke average in four rounds of play, while Ambrosius has tallied a 76.3 stoke average. Getman competed in the season-opener at the Lone Star Invitational, while Udomrat, a freshman, made his collegiate debut at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. 
 
The other 16 programs include Air Force, Arkansas, BYU, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Denver, Loyola Marymount, Nebraska, host school New Mexico, NM State, UT Arlington, Pepperdine, San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming.
