EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP rifle team will make the trek to Air Force for a pair of matches (8 a.m. MT Saturday and Sunday) this weekend. It will be a tri-angular match on Saturday, with the Miners sharing the range with the host Falcons and Nevada. UTEP and Air Force will lock up head-to-head on Sunday.

It marks the first action in the month of October for the Orange and Blue, who last shot at home on Sept. 30 against Ohio State.

"We've worked a lot since the matches with Ohio State," UTEP head coach Austin Litherland said. "The team has used the time (between matches) to tweak everything. They're focused on getting their scores up to the highest they can go."

Sophomore Jessica Boyce has been the top shooter through three matches for the Miners. She paces the squad in averages for aggregate (1157), smallbore (571) and air rifle (586). Junior Mara Rouse has come on strong by registering an aggregate average (1146) that is 11 points higher than her career average (1135).

Sophomore Samantha Miller (1126) and senior Maranda Nelson (1135) are producing seasonal averages slightly above their career marks, while freshmen Morgahn Warner (1133) and Josephine John (1125) are starting to find their rhythm.
